Forest - Like a Blaze Above the Ashes

Blazebirth Hall is not exactly infamous for producing good music. Much like the LLN, Blazebirth Hall is a little club of black metal persuteists who like to make inaccessible lo-fi music. Most stuff from these Russians sucks but Forest's Like a Black Above the Ashes is wonderful. With the perfect ammount of rough production mixed with unique melodic, yet still raw guitar playing the songs on this album all prove to be interesting and varied. The first 2 are more raw black metal tracks, but the 3rd track after it gets going truly shines with imaculent riffing. Everything a black metal fan could want is found on this album, get it!

1. By the Roar of Hammers Call
2. With All the Coldness of Knowledge, with All the Cruelty of Requital
3. To the Fiercest Frost
4. Obscurity

Ulf Söderberg - Tidvatten

Ulf Söderberg is best known for his work under the moniker Sephiroth, although his solo work may be a good deal overlooked it is certainly on the same quality level if not better than Sephiroth. Tidvatten is a very tribal album, full of various and interesting styles of percussion many label this style of music as "tribal industrial" although it has a lot of ambient elements as well. Epic passages of choral synths or ritual like chanting act as fill ins between the percussion sections, and it works beautifully.

2. I Vargmanens Tid (5:58)
3. Ecuatoria (4:44)
4. Tidvatten Part 1 (5:35)

7. Järtecken (4:05)
8. Ammons Hav (3:22)
9. Tempel Och Katedral Reser Sig Ur Djupen (7:10)
10. Tidvatten Part 2 (13:23)
